Groveland, CA 2020
With a few members of the Nature Sounds Society and since our original plan at Yosemite fell through, it was still closed, we tried our contact with a private picnic area nearby.
The area was very lush as you can see, we camped nearby. My mics overlooked a small agricultural pond. We were actually in a gated community with some really nice homes as well as ranches. There were cattle, roosters and dogs not too far away.
All in all it was surprisingly dense in sound, a first year bear cub was also seen.

Hello!
What I have to say is that you have a very nice rig that can record wide things! I love your recordings and your will to go possibly low profile.
I have something similar, but I use only one lower stand for five channels. Usually I connect all parts at home and fold the whole piece and put it to the backpack, so I need like 5 minutes to unfold the rig and get it ready for recording.
But I suffer from the wind. I’ve made my DIY version of windshields but it can not stand really windy situations. There are portable solutions on the market (like Rycote BBG), but it is around 800 bucks for 5 mics. That is to much for me, and I am trying to find a good DIY solution.
Could you tell me what kind of windscreen system do you use? Your recordings sound very well protected from wind! Do you have any advice for me speaking of DIY windscreen?
I would also like to share my stuff with you. I made this 5 channel recording at the Barents Sea in Summer using my 5.0 mic array. It is sometimes noisy in low end because of imperfection of my windscreens. Anyway I would like to know what do you think about the recording.
Best wishes
Roman
